The Tinkerer

Separated from her sister, Ruby panicked in the pandemonium and ran into the nearest room. Inside the room was a single robot, partially built. The robot acknowledged her presence before raising its arm in alarm. An explosion rocked the building sending debris flying in all directions. The robot tackled Ruby as the room came crashing down all around them. When the dust settled, the robot lay trapped under a pile of rubble shielding the young girl. Unfortunately it was only partially successful, and Ruby’s left arm was crushed under a slab of steel. The robot looked sadly down at her. “Sorry, child.”

When the two were found, Ruby was quickly rushed to a hospital, where an old friend of her uncle had a mechanical arm crafted for her. Her robot saviour was recovered, but only its head remained functional. The robot soon became a constant companion of the young girl.

Fascinated with her arm, and robot friend, Ruby found her calling as she started tinkering with various mechanical objects. Her expertise in building mechanics and later weaponry was unparalleled in her age group, and she often upgraded and replaced her own arm along with her mechanical friend. Inspired by her uncle, she eventually built her own weapon to complement her arm, and later crafted her sister’s weapons and tools.
